A vibrant start to spring!

Director of one of the South’s leading PR Agencies, Darren Northeast PR, shares news and upcoming events in Dorset and beyond.

We are well into the midst of March and Bournemouth and Poole is certainly full of life as the first birds of spring are starting to sing! My team and I were recently privileged to attend the start of Bournemouth Chamber of Trade of Commerce’s centenary celebrations, which was kicked off in style with a spectacular Rio carnival-themed party. To reach 100 years as chamber this month is such a fabulous achievement and it has been an honour to be a Patron of the chamber for a number of years now.

In more good news, it was also fantastic to recently read that Dorset-based charity, Macmillan Caring Locally, have reached a landmark £100,000 worth of fundraising as a result of their now-renowned ‘White Christmas Dip’. Macmillan Caring Locally is a charity which is very close to my heart and I am so pleased to hear this great fundraising event has raised so much money for their Macmillan Unit.

You may have noticed that our sunny seaside town, Bournemouth, has been receiving some great exposure in the national press recently, with articles in the Sunday Mirror, Telegraph.co.uk and the London Economic to name just a few! I have said it before and I’ll say it again – Bournemouth is truly a town on the rise and it’s great to see the national media recognise this.

Bournemouth is also being celebrated on a local level as Bournemouth-based graffiti artist, Rick Walker, has created a stunning street art mural celebrating Bournemouth’s vibrant creative and sporting community. The colourful mural has been particularly inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s Jekyll & Hyde, which was written in Bournemouth, as well as modern AFC Bournemouth hero, Tommy Elphick.

Speaking of the ‘Cherries’ Captain, the guys in the office are all particularly pleased with how well our home team is currently doing. Following our recent run of victories, we are all keeping our fingers crossed that the success continues. DNPR are wishing Eddie Howe and the boys the best of luck for the rest of the season!

Lastly, I was thrilled to recently take part in a charity fashion show for Canford Cliffs-based Company, Fox Tailoring. As well as showcasing their fantastic tailored men’s wear in aid of Julia’s House, the event also marked the launch of Fox Tailoring’s ‘Lady Fox’ range of women’s tailored clothing. So for all ladies out there, if you’re looking for unique and glamorous clothing to help you stand out from the crowd, make sure to check out Fox Tailoring!

As always, thanks for taking the time to cast your eyes over this month’s edition of ‘PR Man About Town’ and make sure to catch us again in April!
