PR Man About Town, May 2016

Director of one of the South’s leading PR Agencies, Darren Northeast PR, shares news and upcoming events in Dorset and beyond.

Hello and thank you for casting your eyes upon this month’s edition of ‘PR Man About Town’! Summer is starting to make an appearance as the sun occasionally decides to ‘put his hat on’ and give us some lovely weather. Let’s hope there’s more to come as the promise of summer means some of Bournemouth and Poole’s favourite annual events are just around the corner.

The first of Bournemouth’s ‘big three’ summer events is not too far away, as the first weekend of June will mark the 2016 Wheels Festival. Always a spectacle to behold, the festival is rolling back to Bournemouth for its third year promising to take things up another gear! On show will be a wide range of spectacular transport from Army and Royal Air Force Vehicles; classic cars; monster trucks; motorcycles; and more.

However, before June arrives there is still plenty going on in May. May is what we at DNPR like to call the ‘official’ start to the business award season. Several high-profile local business awards have been launched this month including the Dorset Venus Awards, Dorset Wedding Supplier awards as well as the Dorset Tourism Awards. We are very pleased to be sponsoring the ‘Small Visitor Attraction’ category at this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards and strongly encourage all local small visitor attractions to enter. Entering awards are a fantastic way to raise your company or brand’s profile and awareness as an official recognition of how great your business really is.

Speaking of awards, we are delighted to announce that we have been named as finalists in two categories for the Public Relations Consultancy Association (PRCA) DARE Awards in the South West and Wales and are the only Dorset PR company to be in the finals!

May has also been a successful month for the DNPR team as our Senior Account Manager, Matt Jenkins, has been voted into Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce as their youngest Executive Director. We are all very proud of Matt and wish him the best of luck working with the Chamber.

As always, there’s also some great entertainment going on this month including pop-favourites Busted who will be returning to the BIC for the first time since their reunion! Also lighting up a stage near you are the absolutely awesome Brother Strut who will be bringing their unadulterated funk and soul sound to Bournemouth’s hottest venue, Canvas, on the 27th of May.

As always, thanks for taking the time to cast your eyes over this month’s edition of ‘PR Man About Town’ and make sure to catch us again in June!
