It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Director of one of the South’s leading PR Agencies, Darren Northeast PR, shares news and upcoming events in Dorset and beyond this December.

The festive season is upon us and, as Dorset gets into the Christmas spirit, I am delighted to bring you DNPRs first column in House Magazine – providing you with a range of exciting news, upcoming events and thoughts on Dorset’s current cultural scene.

Being based in the centre of Bournemouth, you just have to look up at the daily evolving skyline to realise how much Bournemouth has changed in the past year. It truly feels like a vibrant city on the up, with the opening of new on-trend venues such as ‘Canvas’ last month, the return of the fantastic ‘Christmas Bar’ to the former ‘Print Room’ plus the eclectic range of talented acts gracing the Bournemouth Square Christmas Stage… And that’s not all! With the family-favourite German Christmas Market back, the charismatic Jools Holland coming to the BIC on the 18th and the Bournemouth Ice Rink – there’s no shortage of exciting things to do in the local area this month.

At DNPR we are not adverse to a shopping spree here and there, and of course Christmas is the perfect excuse to splurge. So whilst out and about, preparing ‘secret santa’ gifts and the like, it’s been fantastic to see our shopping districts so bustling as we all get ready for Christmas.

One thing there is certainly no escaping this season is the shelves and shelves of Star Wars merchandise – from light sabres, BB-8 t-shirts, to Darth Vader soap on a rope! The build up to the film of the year has been huge and several of our team in the office are getting giddier by the day as the premier approaches. However, much more down my boulevard is the new Absolutely Fabulous film and the new promotional photos look just that – ‘fabulous’!

Lastly, I wanted to briefly talk sport – as finally, Andy Murray and the team have given Britain something to cheer for this year! We were chuffed to see them bring home the Davis Cup last month. Looking ahead, next year will see the 2016 Olympic Games – for which I can’t wait.

Thank you reading the first in what will hopefully be many ‘About Town’ features. From the entire DNPR team, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a splendid Christmas and a fabulous New Year!
