Suessical!

DNPR
Posted by DNPR on 08.05.2015

Recently, Darren and Matt took a visit to the beautiful Theatre Royal Winchester and were fortunate enough to have a tour of the theatre.

The theatre itself is a gorgeous 400 seat venue situated right in the heart of Winchester City Centre. With a traditional proscenium arch stage, red velvet seats and two balconies trimmed with gold which adorn the side of the auditorium, the theatre feels both lavish yet intimate as the front seats come within only a couple of feet of the stage! Back stage is a rabbit warren of secret passage ways, dressing rooms, technical production boxes and sound booths. It’s like delving into a magician’s box and gives an amazing insight into the secrets and tricks of the theatre!

The reason we were fortunate enough to be given a tour of this amazing theatre is that we are proudly sponsoring Young Theatre Royal’s production of “Seussical”.

Seussical (as you may have guessed by the name) is a musical based on the fantastical books of Dr Seuss. If you have ever read a Doctor Seuss book you will be aware of the colourful, zany and wondrous world which is the “Seussiverse”, so when put to an amazing score of music – the show promises to be nothing short of spectacular and great fun for all the family!

At DNPR we are very passionate about the arts and theatre in particular, so we are especially proud to be able sponsor this show and help a talented group of young actors get there time in the limelight! To be involved in theatre is a great way for youths to develop new skills, build their confidence and make new friends outside of a school environment.

We will be visiting the Young Theatre Royal’s rehearsals and we’re excited to see the whole process of the show from auditions, to the rehearsal room to the stage!

As well as sponsoring the show we will also be helping with the PR for the production and we can’t wait to work with theatre.

Seussical is on at the Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of July.
